Ah, the first post race week in a while. I was pretty tired this week which was poor timing as school got really, really hard this week. It’s the first time in a long time that it was hard to get runs in. Not quite as high on mileage as I wanted but it is what it is.
Monday: Recovery Run, 4 miles easy with Sam.
Tuesday: Easy 7, still a little sore but much better.
Wednesday: Workout, and arguably my first official workout back. Humbling pace wise, as I worked hard to hit paces that I ran a half marathon at 18 months ago. 6 by 800 with 2:45 in between at 3:09, 3:04, 3:05, 3:02, 3:01, 2:59 and a total of 10 miles. Happy to have gotten faster over the repeats and figured out how to run intervals again.
Thursday: Recovery run through the Intervale with Annie, 6.8 miles.
Friday: Easy 7 with Joey, only it didn’t feel easy. Everything hurt so definitely time for a rest day, since it’s been almost 2 weeks.
Saturday: Took the off day, prorated 7. Nice out, wanted to run but knew that Sunday’s workout was more important.
Sunday: Long run with 2 by 2 mile at tempo pace. Into crazy wind and uphill on the way out for 6:52 and 6:51 then a little easier on the way back for 6:38, 6:38. The second set felt much more comfortable.
Total: 53.9 miles
Good first real week with two workouts. Need to get a little more mileage and get back on track with lifting. Given how my foot felt with harder work, I also need to be better about doing my balance work. In general, the week was humbling because I’m so darn slow compared to past years but good because I started the hard work of getting back into shape.
